The KKG is located in the heart of Lünen-Süd near the Datteln-Hamm Canal and the Victoria stockpile.
About 1000 students go to the KKG and almost 90 teachers teach here. The KKG teaches students from grade 5 to 10 (secondary 1) and in the upper grades up to 13 (secondary 2). In this way, you can achieve any qualification from secondary school to high school. During secondary 1 if the students are still divided into a,b,c,d and e, these classes then consist of approximately 20-30 students. In secondary 2 there are only different courses, depending on what you have chosen. |
The KKG also has an exceptional choice subjects that begins with the selection of a profile (increased teaching in this area) before the first lesson. There you will find the profiles:
In the 5th grade you can then choose one of many extra curricular subjects such as:
In the 7th grade you have to choose a compulsory elective subject
From 8th grade on, if you are qualified in math and English, you can choose between the
From the 9th grade on, you can also choose between the German and Chemistry courses. |

The Einstein profile is one of the 4 profiles that KKG offers and is very popular.
In the course of the profile many exciting things are done, such as solving a fictitious Murder case, excursions to the forest school, planetarium, zoo, recycling depot, natural history museum or many experiments on the subject of fire and combustion, wind, momentum, speed. Furthermore, exciting topics are also covered, e.g. extreme climate conditions, light, fire and colours. |

If you have qualified for the senior grades in class 10, you can visit the advanced classes of the KKG to achieve the Abitur.
At the advanced grades of the Käthe-Kollwitz Comprehensive School there are many individual learning opportunities, special subjects and offers for students. Because the senior-class-building is separate from the main building, there is a quieter atmosphere as the lower classes are in the main building. The quieter atmosphere is supported by the fact that there are 90 minute lessons. In the senior grades you can choose (besides the subjects such as math, German English Bio, sports ...) pedagogy, nutritional science or Italian, these subjects are taught in only a few schools nearby. Furthermore, you can participate in a sailing extracurricular in year 11. Students in the upper grades have free WiFi at their disposal. In addition to the subject classrooms (chemistry rooms, physics rooms, ...), there is a "self-study centre" where students can study in free hours. The self-study centre has a small kitchen and a few computers. Students who have chosen Italian can take part in a student exchange program in the twelfth grade. For the new eleventh year it is planned that each student will receive an iPad with installed textbooks and writing- and presentation-programs for teaching purposes. |
